A small select group of China’s top business leaders flew to Australia and the Pacific this month to accompany the People’s Republic of China President Xi Jinping to the G20 meeting of world political and business leaders.
Flying from China in their private jet, the group visited many areas of Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and the Pacific where they investigated business opportunities and signed official investment agreements.
One such significant signing was in New Zealand by Mr Jiang Zhaobai, Chairman of China’s Pengxin Group in the presence of New Zealand’s Prime Minister Hon. Mr John Key MP, and China’s President Xi Jinping.
The signing cemented Pengxin Group’s place as one of the largest owners of dairy farms in New Zealand.
Pengxin also took the opportunity to launch a new satellite technology initiative and announce the refurbishment of the two Hilton operated hotels they own in Queenstown.
Pengxin Group is privately owned by billionaire Mr. Jiang Zhaobai. Forbes Magazine lists Mr. Jiang as one of China’s richest men.
Pengxin is a typical Chinese conglomerate with diversified interests in real estate development, modern agribusiness, mining, infrastructure, construction and investment.
The Group has more than 40 subsidiaries worldwide, with investments in regions as diverse as South America, Africa, Asia and New Zealand. The main focus of their global investment is in mining and agriculture.
Back home in China, Pengxin is a major developer and owner of large integrated mixed use projects under the Aqualand brand including major commercial and retail centres.
They are also a significant developer and owner of hotels with dozens of resort and hotel developments currently underway. Pengxin has also recently acquired publically listed companies operating in the equity and financial services market.
