A world-class standard quality service certification system aimed at offering better services to Chinese tourists was launched at the 2015 China Tourism Industries Exposition in Tianjin on September 27.

The tourism service standard, called CHINA READY®, is supported by the UN World Tourism Organization and reviewed and supervised by many countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and European Union member states…

This is a hugely exciting partnership for Global Blue and we’re delighted to officially launch what we feel is the world’s leading accreditation marketing package for merchants within the shopping and retail industry.

I’d like to introduce the SHOP TAX FREE Card, an exclusive service from Global Blue, which allows travellers to pre-register the personal information required for a VAT refund, as well as their preference in terms of refund methods. When shopping, travellers simply present their plastic or virtual SHOP TAX FREE Card, which is used to automatically retrieve the information required to issue the tax free Shopping transaction.

PATA acts to help drive higher yield from china outbound market

“China is now the largest and fastest growing outbound travel market in the world, however for many tourism operators it has become “’profitless volume”, noted PATA CEO Mario Hardy. “Our members need to constantly adapt and evolve to stay competitive in today’s world.”

Mr Geoff Buckley, a Director of China based CHINA READY (and past Managing Director  of Tourism Australia) observed, “The obvious solution is to target the high value/high yield segment of this market, but with 1.3 billion people in China and an extraordinarily complex media landscape such segmentation is not an easy or cheap task.”

CHINA READY will have a major presence at the Milan World Expo this year as official partner with the China Corporate United Pavilion (CCUP) – a collaboration between China’s Government and Industry.

As part of a push to make Europe CHINA READY®, CCUP and CHINA READY will recognize and promote European tourism product and service providers upon successful completion of CHINA READY Training and Quality Service Certification.

CHINA READY will recommend certified businesses direct to Chinese travel agencies and independent travelers.

The global expansion of CHINA READY is supported and welcomed by the European Tourism Association (ETOA),  the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) and the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), who joined with CHINA READY at a networking cocktail function at the International Tourism Bourse (ITB) in Berlin, Germany.

CHINA READY was represented by past Tourism Australia Managing Director Mr. Geoff Buckley – who is now a Director of CHINA READY.  Mr. Buckley, more than most, recognizes the need to ‘get it right’ when faced with the sometimes daunting prospect of China’s future growth.

When introducing Mr Buckley to explain the CHINA READY Program® to the combined ETOA and PATA member network at this ITB/ETOA/PATA Members Welcome Event, Mr. Tom Jenkins, Executive Director of ETOA (which has over 800 members) said, “China has now become the fastest growing , highest international visitor spending market for Europe…

“Our challenge is to ensure we better understand this unique culture and therefore better meet their needs as visitors”, continued Mr Jenkins. “The CHINA READY Program® has been established to help our operators achieve this objective and we hope our members will give it their full support“, he stated.
